FRIEND OF ARTISTS, FRIEND OF MUSIC is a community arts organization promoting an enhanced space for artistically focused musics and the community record stores that connect them with their audiences.

We do this by providing community arts grants to both artists and the independent, local record stores that support them. We do so with the goal of encouraging the embrace of an arts-based focus as the core of what matters most in recorded music. We believe in the transformative power of aesthetics and the arts, and the role that they can play in social change. By centering more artistic - rather than commercial - concerns at the heart of the relationship between artists, community spaces, and fans, we can foster a more robust and meaningful arts-experiences for all involved while strenghthening community impact and resilience in the process.
